Mobile Plant Technician - Rail Maintenance | FIFO Pilbara Roster: FIFO or Residential Options Available Location: Pilbara WA Employment Type: Casual with ongoing opportunities Cat5 Rail is seeking a Mechanical or Electrical Technician to maintain specialised rail maintenance equipment across major Pilbara rail networks. Working on advanced mobile flashbutt welding machines and rail maintenance assets, you will be responsible for fault finding, preventative maintenance, breakdown repairs and equipment reliability across critical rail infrastructure operations. This role would suit HD Fitters, LV Mechanics, Auto Electricians, Field Service Technicians or Rail Maintenance Technicians looking to transition into specialised rail equipment. Key Responsibilities: • Maintain and repair flashbutt welding equipment • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and PLC faults • Provide breakdown support and troubleshooting • Complete preventative maintenance and servicing • Read electrical and hydraulic schematics • Assist with equipment commissioning and calibration • Complete maintenance reports and documentation • Support safe rail maintenance operations • Maintain strong safety and housekeeping standards Role Requirements: • Australian recognised Mechanical or Electrical trade qualification • Full Australian working rights • Experience with flashbutt welders or heavy mobile equipment • Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills • Experience with hydraulic and control systems • Allen Bradley PLC diagnostics experience • Ability to read schematics and wiring diagrams • Current unrestricted Australian Driver’s Licence - Heavy Rigid Licence • Construction Induction Card • High Risk Work Licence - LF, DG, C2 or similar • Advanced First Aid • Ability to pass CAT 1 Rail Medical and Drug & Alcohol screening Desirable Experience: • Previous rail industry experience • Experience with mobile flashbutt welding equipment including DOOSAN systems highly regarded • Cert IV Instrumentation highly regarded • Cert II or III in Rail Infrastructure • TLIC3045 Operate Road/Rail Vehicle • 4WD Training What we can offer you: • People-focused team culture with strong safety values • Training and mentoring on flashbutt welding and specialist rail equipment • Work with advanced rail machinery and technology • Competitive pay and favourable working conditions • Ongoing training and nationally recognised certifications • Exposure to major rail projects and Tier 1 rail networks How to Apply: Click APPLY now and ensure your resume is up to date with relevant rail, mechanical, electrical and fault-finding experience.
